The mtr application is a basic tool to help do traceroute and provide more information to help administrators diagnose where there are issues. The mtr application provides pocket loss information, the traceroute information, number of hops to your host destination, and ping statistics between your system and the host system.

yum install mtr

For Debian system users:

apt-get install mtr-tiny
