Users on the West Coast and East Coast of the United States maybe experiencing some issues when attempting to access sites like: Amazon.com, Spotify, Netflix, GitHub, SoundCloud, Etsy, Twitter, and many other poplar sites. The reason for the connectivity issue is because Dyn.com is experiencing a massive DDoS attack.
Dyn.com is one of the largest and most popular managed DNS providers in the world. Dyn provides all or part of the domain name resolution (DNS) service for the sites listed above. When users attempt to access a site like Etsy.com, Dyn would be the company handling the request for translating Etsy.com to its respective IP address. Dyn is experiencing a DDoS attack so it would not be able to answer all the requests it receives.
