Google has announced that the company has activated a new long-haul undersea fiber optic cable that has a total capacity of 60 Tbps. Google will have access to 10 Tbps or 1/6th of the total undersea fiber optic cable’s capacity. Customers of Google Cloud will get to enjoy access to this new high capacity link between Japan and the United States.
Google Cloud customers that need enhanced or improved access to Asia will benefit from this new route. Google Cloud customers can host their data in the United States and not worry about any bottlenecks when customers in Asia need to access their services. The new route between Japan and the United States will also help improve redundancy.
